Curriculum
After obtaining my PhD in 2012, I’ve been working for almost ten years in various national and international laboratories guided by strong motivation, patience and professionalism. In my scientific career, I have increased my interpersonal skills and acquired different scientific competencies by being part of different research groups. My main field of research is molecular biotechnology applied to microbial ecology. In recent years I have developed new methods of molecular biology and bioinformatics, analyzing the phenotype, genome and transcriptome of numerous microorganisms and microbial communities. I have studied several biological processes related to extremophiles (Antarctic archaea) and food microbes (wine yeasts and dairy bacteria) to investigate the microbial responses to environmental factors. I have worked with by-products of the dairy industry to develop sustainable solutions for food production and implement the use of microbes with probiotic potential. Recently, in collaboration between Denmark and Italy, I am working on the metagenomic and metatranscriptomic characterization of the microbial communities that populate biogas reactors for bioenergy production and sustainable waste recovery.
