The BSL-2 lab Facility involves moderate to high-risk agents and therefore requires a strict adherence to BSL-2 (Level 2 of Biosafety) containment.
There is one locked entry door to the facility which leads to an anteroom where PPE can be worn. A second door leads into the working lab: a glass allows you to see inside.
The working lab is divided into two distinct spaces separated by a glass wall, each with a dedicated hood. The main area is dedicated to work with viral vectors to manipulate your cells of interest: there are 2 working benches and storage spaces that can be assigned at each research group. The smaller separate area in the rear is intended for the production of the virus, with the possibility of concentrating it by ultracentrifugation. For this reason, the ultracentrifuge is located in this space.
Windows that open to the exterior are locked.
A microscope is located in the anteroom, in a lateral dark room.
