Proposals for thesis

Here some general topics to investigate for potential theses. If interested in doing a thesis with me please contact me and we can discuss projects in more details. 1) Regime shifts detection and modelling in marine systems (from populations to socio-ecological systems). Analyses of long-term data. Understand mechanisms and feedbacks. Application of early warning signals. 2) Modelling of marine populations: spatial and temporal changes of marine populations in multiple areas of the world, impact of human pressures, changes in population processes such as recruitment and growth, teleconnections, connectivity. Collapses and recoveries. 3) Modelling of marine communities: spatial and temporal changes in marine communities, changes in functions and biodiversity, connectivity, species interactions and network approaches. 4) Marine historical ecology: exploration of past data and alternative sources to understand how natural systems have changed.
