On Thursday 28th of November there will be a special lecture by Terri Cook, a science writer (featured in Scientific American, Eos, Lonely Planet) and Communications Lead at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics, University of Colorado Boulder. This lecture, titled Science as Story - Communicating Science in Unexpected (and Effective) Ways, is part of the European Geosciences Union Distinguished Lecture Series and is organized by the Department of Biology, the Department of Geosciences, and the University Museums Centre.

In this talk, Terri Cook will share innovative approaches to science communication, highlighting the role of storytelling in bridging the gap between scientific research and the public. Drawing from her experience in communicating topics ranging from the geology of Middle Earth to NASA’s Europa Clipper mission, she will demonstrate the power of storytelling in making science accessible and memorable.
About the Speaker. Terri Cook is a qualified geologist and an award-winning science writer whose work has appeared in outlets such as the US Geological Survey and Scientific American. With extensive media relations experience, she currently leads communications at the largest research institute at the University of Colorado and has received prestigious awards, including the 2016 EGU Science Journalism Fellowship and the 2019 Association of Health Care Journalists Fellowship.
