GRANT and AWARDS SERIES (EMBO Research Fellow): Jonathan Lambert

Pubblicato il: 12.02.2021 10:42

Jonathan P. Lambert, PhD

European Molecular Biology Organization postdoctoral fellowship

Award runs from February 15th 2021 to February 14th 2023

Mitochondrial cristae, the energetic units of life, are highly dynamic in structure and morphology but what drives the regulation of these dynamics is yet to be fully elucidated. This project’s main goal is to determine the metabolic sensing capability of mitochondrial cristae by specifically evaluating whether metabolic sources or machinery regulate cristae dynamics. This is of great scientific interest as it will evaluate if shifting metabolism can prevent pathogenic cristae remodeling and provide evidence of novel targets for (patho)physiological treatments.

PI's Biography

Jonathan Lambert is a European Molecular Biologist Organization postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Luca Scorrano’s lab in the department of biology at the University of Padua. His primary research focus investigates the metabolic sensing capability of mitochondrial cristae. He earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Temple University in Philadelphia, USA investigating MCUBs role in regulating mitochondrial calcium dynamics in the setting of cardiac (patho)physiology.
