Large-scale sequencing and comparative analysis of oenological Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains supported by nanopore refinement of key genomes

Our new paper is out in Food Microbiology journal. We uncovered variants characterizing oenological strains, by sequencing 65 new Saccharomyces cerevisiae isolates, and by comparing them with other 503 publicly available genomes. A hybrid approach based on short Illumina and long Oxford Nanopore reads allowed the identification of SNPs, CNVs, structural variants and putative laterally transferred regions. The study coordinated by Prof. Stefano Campanaro was developed in collaboration with Italiana Biotecnologie s.r.l.
